Why we built this the way we did

When my daughter was 5, I drilled her on number facts because I was afraid she'd fall behind. I'd always loved Maths myself, so I assumed that would be enough to pass on. It wasn't. She started to dread the one subject I'd always loved.

It took me a while to see what was actually happening. She hadn't lost her curiosity — I was burying it under worksheets and repetition. Every child starts out a natural learner. Mine still was. She just needed the right way in, not more practice.

That's the whole idea behind Curious Little Critters. These books aren't built to get your child ahead on a test. They're built to protect the curiosity they already have — and you don't need to have loved Maths yourself to help them keep it. You just need the right way in.

"These stories introduce numeracy concepts while imparting life lessons. The conversation prompts make this perfect for families wanting meaningful learning at home."

How This Works

Curious Little Critters Maths Adventures

See what it looks like in real homes, with real children

  • THE MATHS IS IN THE STORY

Every book embeds a real Maths concept inside a story your child can see themselves in. Blossom sorts socks. Rummy counts snacks. Kai spots patterns everywhere. The lesson isn't a worksheet at the back - it's a whole adventure!
  • Children's book page with a hedgehog illustration and text on a light background

    THE CHARACTER LESSON IS REAL

Alongside very Maths concept is a social-emotional theme your child will carry with them. Gratitude. Kindness. Bravery. Resilience. Each book pairs one Maths skill with one life lesson - not as an add-on, but as the story itself.
  • Child playing with a colorful board game on a light surface

LEARNING THAT GETS OFF THE TABLE

Each storybook has a companion activity book - 30 play-based activities that bring the same maths concept to life away from the desk. Board games, origami, crafts, movement games, pretend play. No prep needed. Designed for the floor, the kitchen table, or a long journey!
